Dena grew up in Flour Bluff Texas. She left home for the army at age 18. Met and married her husband of 28 years while stationed together in the army. Dena recently moved back to Texas from North Carolina where her grown children are still attending college. After the army, Dena went to culinary school in North Carolina. After years in food service she then became a culinary instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College and a restaurant owner in Fayetteville, N.C. Upon her husband’s military retirement, they decided to move back to Corpus Christi where she took a Culinary Instructor position at Del Mar College. After a year at Del Mar College, Dena decided she needed a change of pace and took the Kitchen Manager position at Charlie’s Place. She absolutely loves her job at Charlie’s Place and feels like she finally found where she needed to be.
